Kate the last person i'd be taking any kind of financial advice would be Pedro. Do yourself a favor and find someone local to talk to. An independent financial consultant.

Banko Santander already owned 25% of Sovereign Bank. They purchased the balance of the bank to protect their investment. I highly doubt much will change for local customers. Your money won't disappear and they will appreciate having you as a good mortgage paying customer.

Any bank is safe so long as you do not have over 250k with them. Banko is a huge banking name internationally- the equivalent of a Bank Of America domestically. You should have no worries.

Thanks for the information - I'll hang tight unless I hear of any further problems. I've been a Sovereign customer for 8 years and do not wish to change.
