Generally, I would agree with you, but some people are so radical they think
simply training a dog is abuse, or using one for some type of work such as
leading the blind, or hunting. There I would disagree, as well permanently sterlizing
someone. People can change and I think thats a radical thing to do.

I agree with you on your above post. On more than one occasion I have been told that I am cruel to my 3 dogs because I have an underground electric fence at my property. We live on a couple of acres but the house sits close to the road, I thought that to give the "kids" lots of room to run and play but safely that a underground fence system was the best choice. I couldn't handle having to put them on leads and keep them confined to a small area of yard, just didn't seem fair. The dogs love the freedom and I love the peace of mind knowing they are safe.
But some people still tell me that it's mean that I "trained" them on the fence. Can't please them all.

Also, my brother had a Yellow Lab that was trained as a "bird dog". Not cruel as some may think. She LOVED to do it, as soon as she saw my brother break out the camoflauge she would jump around and run to the car cause she knew they were going hunting.

However the other mentality is if your dog DOES have an illness you can just put it down. This is also wrong since we don;t put unhealthy children down, why would you adopt a family member of the kanine variety and the minute it costs you money be able to kill it.

It all comes down to responsibility and unfortunately people value children more than dogs or cats. It is o.k. in some people's minds to stop treatment on a child if insurance won;t cover it. I think this is also wrong.

We all want the perfect children and the perfect pet. Unfortunately when children are less than perfect taxpayers pay to treat them. When a dog is less than perfect it's owner has the right to kill it.

STOP RIGHT THERE. You should have worded it, we don't put unhealthy live children down. What about abortion, especially late-term abortion. We can now take blood tests and other tests of unborn children, to determine if they have any disease or other problems, and if they do, we allow the doctors to get people to abort them. If the above is how you believe, I wouldn't be surprised if you'll tell us you are going to vote for Obama.

This was posted by caninegroomer. Most people, if not everyone, is NOT asking for dogs to be treated above people. They want common sense treatment. Including cages that don't deform thier feet, exercise areas available where they can be in the sunshine and fresh air. Health care when they are sick and injured, and cages big enough they can strech out in. It isn't much by any means.
We need to vote Gordon Denlinger out of office for one thing. He has no interests in what the general public wants, only special interests.
State Dog Law is also at fault. As we have seen repeatedly, they have passed kennels, only to have the SPCA go in and find horrific conditions ( Almost Heaven Kennel, case in point). These people are either chonicaly incompetent or paid off.
The point everyone is missing is what happens to those puppys that produced in the mills. They usually end up in the shelters. They are not socialized, frequently the kennel operators have no knowledge of hereditary health conditions, and who cares if they have bad temperatment, as long as they reproduce. Then it your tax dollars that pay to house these dogs and if necessary destroy them. So, if you want to talk about money, maybe you need to look into this.

How many 'puppy mill' kennels have you been in? Obviously only the ones that are targeted by the animal rightists. Probably not in any.

People, people, people. Open your ears and eyes and start doing a total research into this subject. It appears that you get only half of the truth and you call it a whole truth. Remember, there are three sides to a story. It is your side, which is slanted to favor you. Then it is my story, which is slanted to favor me. Then it is the TRUE side. Let's get honest with everybody. You people want change? Start at home and in your own heart. Not where you see the bottom of your heart, but where God sees it.

No he didn't!

GOD LOVES DOGS.

WHAT WOULD JESUS DO? is all I have to say on the matter.

Oh, it's you and me at it again?

In other words you like your slanted story best of all, and you're willing to put every commercial breeding facility in the same basket.

Wake up.

Trouble is you never stick to the story at hand...you always venture into things that don't even have anything to do w/the topic.

I have no ill will towards you , btw. :-) God loves you too . And my dog would lick your hand.
