Since this is finally on the front page of Lancaster Online BUT LNP has now removed the ridiculous statement by it's partner Nevin Cooley, I will reprint my quote and comments from this morning's article...

>>>>>>Nevin Cooley, president of Penn Square General Corp., a partner in the hotel project, said he's aware of the funds Armstrong has promised the authority and the restrictions that would come with them.

"The convention center authority has asked us to waive that agreement" to share any state funds, Cooley said. "We understand their need, and we are working with them on it."<<<<<<<

Nevin is "working with them on it"? He is thinking about it? Considering his negotiating posture for it?

This guy should be put on train, along with Roger Moyer, and shipped out of this town. The nerve that he displays is outrageous. The legislature has spoken, CLEARLY, and he is working on it?
THERE IS NOTHING TO WORK ON HERE NEVIN...THIS TIME YOU DO NOT GET ANY WELFARE AND YOU HAVE TO REMOVE YOUR HEAD FROM THE PUBLIC TROUGH!
I hope everyone will remember that Nevin and his ilk are the ones pushing for Home Rule. Do we really want to give this guy more power? Home Rule = more power for the business elite, the primary backer of this, and less power to the people...don't be fooled by the sales job.
Remember when someone, oh yeah it was Nevin Cooley and his subordinates, promised to deliver a 4-star hotel to Lancaster with PRIVATE money?

*************

That didn't last long...already off their homepage and remanded to the local news "list". BTW, any mention yet in LNP about the elevator error causing an $86,000 change order?

Note that the PSP has committed to spend no more than $11 million in "equity", whatever that is, to furnish and equip the hotel building. They have also promised to pay off a $24 million construction loan over the next 20 years, out of future profits from the hotel. To add insult to injury, the hotel will pay NO real estate taxes for at least 20 years. (Early in the process, the PSP had promised the School District of Lancaster at least $400,000 a year in additional real estate tax revenue, in an attempt to get their support for the project).

All this for a $75 million hotel and "shared space".

We haven't yet heard the last from the Penn Square Partners about this money issue.

I'll bet you fell off your chair in surprise when you heard they need more funding. I guess someone owes you an apology! Next let's put these guys in charge renovating county government. NOT!
And people disparage you for continuing to write articles on the hotel/CC issue like it's behind us or something. This is going to be with us for a long, long time.
