I definitely would like more data before commenting such as, statistics on the types of crimes perpetuated by students against other students and students against teachers. We need to determine if there is any trends towards assaultive behavior. Do we need increased security personnel, or is it it more social workers? Of course we can take the extreme view by eliminating coed public schools altogether...This particular case is annoying to me because the writer of this article left out the obvious inferences of witnesses and forensics. Is this the rebirth of the Salem Witch Trials where the accused has to prove their innocence( the student's tale is good enough), or is there actual proof that a crime occurred? Hypothetically the scarlet "A" has been publicly emblazoned on the forehead of this very young pair. To say that this girl is blessed with physical charms and acts like an ingenue to tantalize both men and boys is probably correct. I never met her nor will I ever see her pix in a newspaper but could anyone say that I'm wrong? As far as the young man is concerned, well, he is a very young professional who should have been placed by the school board in a fourth to sixth grade curriculum. He's 22, she's 16> sounds like the beginning of a song. How many of us have spouses who are separated by half a dozen years. Even if this guy is the next John Phillip Sousa, he should earn 5 years of tenure before teaching high school..Just ranting..Chow

Can you understand that even if this girl walked into the classroom NUDE EVERY SINGLE DAY, this man should have known better than to involve himself with her. HE is the adult, HE is the person in authority, HE is the one responsible to make sure this didn't happen. OMG....why can't people see that? There are certain jobs that put people in a position of authority and trust, police officers, doctors, TEACHERS, etc. I keep using this example, if a 22 year old police officer picked up a 16 year old girl for shoplifting and instead of notifying the parents, took her to speedwell forge and had sexual contact with her...would that be a problem?? Would you still question whether the girl is a victim? As a parent of a teenage girl, I am shocked at some of the comments here.

Granted, the teacher did wrong, but still, as some have said. Some of these "kids", if you can even call them that, are sluts. Some of them are victims only by police report, and not reality.

This was just a case of a teacher thinking with the wrong head.

Honestly, they both are in the wrong, in my opinion, if things turned out being what it seems like. The girl for doing what she did, and the teacher for doing what he did, and where he was in his position of authority.

Are you kidding me? If this girl walked into the classroom nude ONCE she would be punished! At 16 she would know that is WRONG and administration would not stand for it!

I am not disagreeing that he is at fault and wrong and should be punished... but human nature sometimes gets the best of us and if she walked in NUDE... well... she's not so innocent in the matter -- is she?

A 16 year old should have a understanding of the basics of right and wrong... and she should have known it was wrong to "mess around" with a teacher/aide/staff. That's all I'm saying... we are quick to throw the book at the adult and "protect and shelter" the "child", when the "child" made choices/decisions that contributed to the situation as a whole. If we keep this up, we are sending the message to the students "it's okay - you won't get in trouble" and it's going to conitnue to happen/get worse. We sit back and ask ourselves why we are loosing our best teachers...

what's inappropriate about Speedwell Forge?

Nothing is inappropriate with Speedwell Forge. LNP's reporting of where he touched her in the first story was inappropriate. And do we really care that they 'kissed passionately'??
