Hmmm. A family member of mine spent the night in jail on a bench warrant because he was denied his one phone call. His wife had no idea why he didn't come home and found out where he was around lunchtime the next day. Is it time to jump on the bandwagon and do some fundraising?

I'm all for lock'em up and throw away the key and certainly this article suggests these suits have no merit. That being the case, I think they chose the wrong case to lead-off this article when one where one of the three accused guards reports one of the others for violations. It looks like there is really somehting wrong with our system and its management. Keep the prison, keep the prisoners, get a new warden and management staff and guards who do not overstep their authority.

Have any of you had the pleasure of visiting someone at the prison? I did.A friend was there for a while.I went once a week.It was one of the worst experiences I`ve ever had. I was told that it`s not the same in all prisons and found that to be true when my friend was transferred to Muncie. LCP was a nightmare, anyone I dealt with in the visitors area were surly, bossy, and just plain nasty. They treat visitors like prisoners.Empty your pockets, rent a locker for everything but your clothes,walk-thru metal detectors, and a final wand sweep over your body, show the bottom of your shoes, the inside of your mouth, your hair if it`s long.Mess up one time, don`t do exactly as they want and your out.It doesn`t matter if it`s your first visit or tenth.Their like the Soup Nazi,it seems they want you to screw something up.
At Muncie, they do almost the same routine but their much nicer, caring, they seem to get the fact that the visitors are famlies or friends, not criminals. They seem to get the fact that it`s already hard as hell on those visiting from an emotional standpoint and treat people with respect. The first visit to LCP ended with me leaving because I didn`t have change to rent a locker.By the time I went to get change I was too late to see my friend that day.The people in charge there said"Too bad" the prisoner should have told you what you needed, bahhh any way it was bad.At Muncie, the people couldn`t have been more helpful,it was actually a nice visit,as nice as a visit to a max security prison can be

Unfortunately I have had the pleasure, Hammer, and my experience was very much like yours. I understand they have a job to do but they could be nicer about how they go about it. Like you said, I felt like I was the prisoner.

The constables in Lanc Co, have to transport prisoners around for hearing and so on. The constables don't even like to go to the prison cause the guards give them a hard time and it takes forever to get a prisoner out. A DJ friend of mine told me that it is hard to get constables now, for transports, when they have to arraign someone. I know some of the former police officers I worked with don't like to go to the prison either cause they give them a hard time. They need new leadership in at that prison.
