Hours: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday,

I'm grew up in NJ, and this is something I've never understood since I moved here 7 years ago. Why do retail stores here keep these hours? How do they expect people with jobs aka money to shop at their establishments with these kinds of hours? Where is the sense in this? I'm completely baffled.

If the business is properly run, they should do ok even with the limited hours. My sister bought an existing resale shop last year. Since then she has had to double her lease space and said last month was their best month ever. Even with the lousy economy, her business is booming.

Hi A1. It just occurred to me that the resale business may be doing better because the economy stinks and people can't afford to buy new. What happens if the economy picks up ? I'm a resale purchaser from way back, so I will always check a resale shop first. "It's not retro, it's just old."

I wasn't just talking about this shop in particular, but all of downtown is like a ghost town after 5.

Granted, we're in the middle of a bar/restaurant zone, but we plan to operate Noon-8pm or later weekdays and 2pm-10pm or later Fridays and Saturdays. To us it only makes sense to be open when your potential customers are walking past your establishment.

Exactly! Yay for common sense!
