Foster can and does work. How do I know? I married a former foster child and he is a part of his foster family. They are as much his family as his biological siblings are. It's not the system that determines whether or not a child will develop lasting relationships with foster care families or how a child will succeed when they turn 18 and are emancipated, it is the dedication of the foster family. Yes there is an overwhelming need for GOOD foster families in this county. And by good I mean: loving, caring, not in for the money, in it for the child and the long haul as most parents are with their own children.
