If your argument/ facts rub Pericles the wrong way...that's the response you get...I looked back through some of his old posts because I thought I detected a pattern...see if you can detect a pattern here...

To Mr. Ponzillo...
You're quite the intellectual Mr. Ponzillo.
Only you understand the truth. Only you possess intelligence. Only you know what is correct and right. All others who disagree are uneducated, probably clinging to their guns and religion. We got it. We heard it all before, from your candidate.
Being convinced that you are absolutely right doesn't make you intelligent, it just makes you a zealot.

To Navywifey...
No more lectures from you. You accuse people of bashing Obama, then you do exactly the same thing to Bush. Of course we should believe what you say, because you know the truth.

To reverend Alobar...
Great Teacher,
Thank you so much for the education about journalists. I had no idea. I assumed common decency and just a tiny bit of integrity was required of a journalist like Gil Smart. So I'm very glad that you educated me and set me straight. Now I know.

To InterestRp08...
What a gem. Thanks for rooting-out the truth! What would we do without you?

To Reverand ALobar...
Hmmm. OK. Next time I'll check with you first to determine the meaning of the post before I do something stupid like making my own determination. Thanks for the input. I don't know how I got by before ReverendAlobar came on the scene.

To Newsjunkie (me)...
I haven't evaluated all the issues, but you have.
I haven't thought things through, but you have.
I don't understand the Constitution, but you do.
I'm simple-minded and you're complex.
Got it. I have a lot to learn from you. In fact, all of us have so much to learn from you. Where have you been all these years?

To Bigby_M...
You're so much more perceptive and adept at seeing the truth...

To Blah Blah...
Thank you so much for coming down from high and setting us all straight...

It's not the argument that elicits that type response, but the supercilious manner in which it's presented, usually by some statement that summarily wipes away the beliefs or opinions of all others and then goes about to set everyone straight regarding the truth.

But thanks for all your hard work this afternoon. That's quite a yeoman's effort you put forth compiling all those posts, some of which I'd forgotten. Kind of makes me feel important that someone would go to all that trouble. If I ever write a book, I'll have all those quotes at hand.

Thanks friend.

you mean....like this?

"The arbiter of the Christian faith has spoken.

You should provide everyone with an email address and phone number so we can check with you first, before we decide what to think and how to practice our faith. "

- Pericles 12/8/08 1:34p
lol......

Love it....
But to assume the nom de plume of a Greek Warrior from antiquity is amusing......

...particularly presuming that talkback's "Pericles" actually ascribes to post Theodsius' dogma of intolerance.

The ancient Greek approach to Science, Philosophy, Art, Love, Sexuality and Adventure...along with the celebration of Dionysus and the vine of the wine, seems contrary to Mr. Pericles' stances. (Posturing).
