I was there last weekend and the food and service was great. Can't do it everytime we go out, but it works as a special occasion to celebrate with friends. Besides, looking for a new favorite restaurant.

Wow! What do people really think?

Never ate there... always heard it was on the expensive side... maybe I'm not missing much? I have friends who love it... guess it's all a matter of taste...

Ate there once. Meh. Not bad, just "meh." I'm not sure what that "peck on the cheek" bit was about. I'd be horrified if some restaurant manager I didn't know tried to plant one on me. He'd likely be introduced to my "Special of the Day": the knuckle sandwich.

We're not there every weekend, but we do enjoy it for special occasions. Always a great meal with great service.

Somehow, this sentence just doesn't work for me:

"The Lees have made the restaurant, a favorite spot for occasions from 50th anniversary parties to funeral luncheons, into a wine destination.

And gee, what a prince this guy is! A whole three days to learn the ropes of the job. How generous.

I ate there once 17 years ago, soon after I moved to town. It was average food, in an average atmosphere, for an incredibly above average price. I ate there once again on invitation and someone else's dime about 5 years ago, and found the staff to be very rude, right down to the hostess. It was, again, average food in an average atmosphere, for an incredibly above average price. Everyone I've ever talked to who has eaten there says the same. I've just never understood the draw, myself.

Yes, regulars have kept him in a pretty steady business there, but he's a fool if he thinks the ECONOMY wasn't to blame for a decline of a mere 12-15% over the past YEAR.....duh.

I must add this. The place is known for treating their staff poorly. The place is also known for treating customers poorly. Is it any wonder that with the economy AND their reputation, that business would decline?

Here's a lesson for the owner. Hire the staff back (if they will come). Treat them well, and I'd be willing to bet they'd cooperate with your recipes.......insert laugh.
