"In 2006, the doctor was charged with perjury for allegedly exaggerating his experience in heart surgery while testifying in a malpractice case in Michigan. That same year, Cedars suspended his surgical privileges ''to protect the life and well being of patients,'' according to court documents.
Zakharia's attorneys filed papers in the Michigan case about the memory lapses in arguing that it was dangerous for him to get on an airplane to appear in a Michigan courtroom."
