Salt peter to keep them lit, and thicker paper so they go out. Sounds silly.

The cigarettes suck. fires caused by cigarettes are extremely rare anyway, this law is completely asinine. How about a law requiring working smoke detectors in every home and every bedroom in the state? Seems a little more important to me...

I'll be buying my cigs in other states from now on... good bye PA tax revenue on my cigs. You think you win one, but you lose. Sorry.

It's true they go out before they are supposed to, even while you are smoking them. Personally, I think it's a conspiracy with the Lighter industry to sell more lighters. I have to relight at least once while smoking these new cigarettes.

We've had the FSC cigs down here for a couple of months. I don't like them, period. So much so, that I now make my own smokes.

They taste better, I know what's in them (100% natural tobacco), and using ultra premium tobacco from a supplier in S.C. they cost me about 12 bucks a carton.

Even when the new S-CHIP tax kicks in April 1st, they'll still be less than 25 bucks a carton. The per pack tax on premades will go up $0.69 cents, The tax on MYO (make your own) tobacco goes up to $24.63 from $6.00 a pound (that's not a typo it's a 2400% tax increase). I'll still save a bunch of money and smoke a superior product.

Yeah, they suck. You can taste the thicker paper spots.
And they are getting there. Many municipalities require working detectors.
In Lancaster city those cheap $5 units that use a common 9 volt battery are no longer legal, as per housing code. All housing in the city (unsure about commercial space) now has to have either detectors with a 10 year lithium battery or detectors that are hard wired to the AC/ with battery back up, in every room except kitchens and bathrooms.
Personally, if I did not have the newer kinds, I`d feel safer with at least a 9 volt jobbie rather than none at all!
