I agree that Harrisburg in generally isn't particularly great. But the airport itself isn't even in Harrisburg. Its right off 283, in Middletown. I've flown from Harrisburg several times over the last year, and found the airport to be super easy to get in and out of, convenient parking, no wait at security, and the new terminal quite comfortable. I've been really impressed with the Harrisburg Airport as of late. I also flew several times out of Philly in the past few years, and found it to be a much more stressful experience in terms of access, parking, security, etc. If the ticket price from Harrisburg is not too much more expensive, I always go with Harrisburg.

I agree...I have fllown in/out of dozens of airports aroundth eworld and HIA is greaet for all the above reasons. Time from my garage to ready to board at the gate (park, shuttle, check in , security) = 45 minutes....regularly! It used to take m almost as long up 501 to Lancaster Airport.

Also, last time I flew out of Lancaster, flight delays cost me an extra day becasue there were so few flights and options ....

And Philly is a stressful drive for me.

Well, somebody needs to speak up for the utility of little airplanes.

There are many people I know, myself included, who are not bothered by the additional noise and turbulence found while riding in smaller planes.

Like Artie says, the ability to travel by air to little out of the way airports (like Lancaster) is well worth any minor discomfort - when compared to the big jets, or driving.

Flying commercially on scheduled airliners (size doesn't matter) is statistically safer than driving. Any death related fears while paying someone to fly you around in a little airplane is irrational and not based in truth.

If you really want to decrease your chances of dying while traveling, stay off of the two lane roads in Pennsylvania, especially at night and when the weather is bad. Save your worries for something rational.

My husband's cousin and his wife were just killed New Year's Day in a plane crash in Joliet, IL. He flew all the time, and his brother is a commercial pilot. I didn't post this because of the danger of flying. I posted for Stuart and Deb who would have written just exactly what you posted. They adored flying. And I think if you had told them 20 years ago that January 1st would end in a plane crash, they would not have changed a single thing.

What a way to start the new year. I agree with Shawn 100%. I always use Harrisburg AP if it is at all possible to use it to get where I'm going. Philly is the pits. Having to remove my shoes to get through security in that place is really creepy. I don't even mind connecting flights if it means I can avoid that place. I tend to forget that Lancaster even has an airport. I've flown out of there several times, but always on corporate jets.

$1.37 million to supply service to Baltimore. I'll supply the same service in a limo with free drinks for that kind of money.

Glad to see we spent $millions on the runway extension.
This airport is doomed. And the idiots running it will use every public dollar they can get their hands on regardless of the practicality.

Is it any wonder why this country is bankrupt!

Where can you find their budget???
