How much subsidy does this site come with? 99% to exceed the CC or does the lack High involvement, so far to date, reduce it to a more "reasonable" 80%?

Beautiful marble facades were demolished to build the "concrete monstrosity," as Lancaster Mayor Rick Gray called it. It never became the draw its planners intended, instead playing host to a series of short-lived shops and a movie theater that closed in 1995.

And just what has been built on Penn Square? The same dam thing, an ugly concrete monstrosity.

The $1.6 million project, scheduled for completion in February, will reduce a developer's "cost of entry to develop the eastern side," Patterson said.

Coincidentally, this is the exact same kind of argument that former Lancaster mayor George Coe (owner of the Coe Camera Shop) used to demolish buildings on the west side of N. Queen St. before a developer had committed to redeveloping the area.

I'm glad the concrete monstrosity is finally being demolished. I just find it curious how history can repeat itself in the strangest ways, as I'm sure it will again and again in the future.
