This morning's meeting was the last time the county board will gather for a public meeting on the 5th floor of the county courthouse, at 50 N. Duke St. The board's next regular meeting, on Jan. 21, will be in Room 701 at 150 N. Queen St.
Many county employees have already moved to the recently acquired county office building on North Queen, next to Binns Park, even as renovations continue there. All the work at the site, which was formerly an Armstrong World Industries office building, is expected to wrap up in June.
In the business portion of today's meeting, commissioners approved a five-year extension of a lease for 1351 Elm Avenue, which houses the offices of Magisterial District Judge Mary Sponaugle. The yearly rent for 2,000-square-foot space is $25,800, up from $22,800.
Also today, commissioners officially appointed Wendy Chan as the county's new director of human resources at a salary of $90,000.
During a work session meeting Tuesday, commissioners made several appointments to county boards and authorities, including naming Greg Sahd to a 5-year term on the Lancaster Airport Authority board. Sahd is a former county treasurer who served on the Government Study Commission.
