Texas is having the open carry issue brought up a lot lately hasn't it?

Yes. There has been a huge push for open carry over the past year and a half. We have an online petition with around 60,000 signatures, the support of the Governor who has said he will sign the legislation id passed, and a growing base of support from lobby groups like the NRA and TSRA. All we need id for someone in the Legislature to man up and introduce a bill that has already been drafted.

The current session is less than a month old, so there is still plenty of time to get it done.

Texans have been denied this right since the Reconstruction and it's time has come. We enjoy other basic firearm rights such as the right to carry concealed in our cars and businesses without a permit, and a "Castle Doctrine" that protects us from civil actions where use of deadly force is justified. It is surprising to many that such a gun friendly state has denied this basic right to it's citizens for so long.

Well hopefully Texas comes through with Open carry. I hope PA Adopts a full blown castle doctrine sometime soon, not just part of one.

The way I see it, he should have shot and killed all of them, then there is self-defense and the criminals are dead. Therefor no witness, no lawsuite, no charges plan and simple.
The laws in PA and a lot of other states protect the criminals not the law abiding citizens.
As far as the carry permit, we shouldn't need one, do you need a permit for free speach, do you need a permit to go to the church of your choice? As always, guns don't kill people kill....

This is the type of thing that keeps good people from acting to protect their neighbors and from coming to a stangers aid.

First off (and I am going to make a few assumptions here) there were multiple attackers, (assumption 1) Im going to assume the person being attacked was on the ground seeing it was a "GROUP" attacking him...
Back when I was 16 and going to Edward Hand Jr. High school, I was punched ONE TIME and from that one punch I was in a coma 3 days and had a portion of my eye socket shattered FROM ONE PUNCH, this wasn't a punch from an adult or from some HUGE guy, the guy was a year older me and weighed no more then 160 lbs. just to get a full understanding let me add I was standing (he did however attack me from behind) but I was not braced for for coming punch.
Point being this guy was being PUNCHED,KICKED,and STOMPED ON repeatedly ANY punch or kick to a persons head without being encased in something like a boxing glove is HARMFUL and EXTREAMLY DANGEROUS now if you put that person being hit on the ground without ability to "roll with the punch" or kicks he is in a deadly situation one stomp to the side of the head can be truely and easily FATAL.
This guy shooting up in the air did a service to this community and maybe the guys attacking his cousin will come to understand how easily they could have been killed. Lets not also forget these guys had the aggressiveness to attack this man RIGHT BESIDE A POLICE STATION! that takes HUGE balls...huge enough that I don't think they would have tought twice about if not killing certinaly being him half to death.

so please, for the sake of us people that have been put into very dangerous situations from punches and kicks lets not downgrade them to the point where people are treating them like they are made by the Nerf company...the Fist and the Foot were gods first weapons, and they are just that, and just as dangerous as a knife. And if you disagee go down to local boxing gym and let some of those guys hit you bare knuckle just once in the face...when you get out of the hospital, ill give you my appology

How many times have we heard about people being beat to death by some drunk guy with his bare hands? Plenty, there was just a case in Columbia recently... someone was killed on a Columbia sidewalk (or maybe it was York).

I agree with you, it's self defense if you're being attacked, whether they have a weapon or not. You can easily be killed by a punch to the temple or throat. Not only that, but being hit like that can cause aneurysms, or cause blood clots in the brain causing stroke/coma, or loosen arterial plaque further causing a heart attack or stroke. Or cause blindness or any sinus bleeding and clots or any number of other problems. Being attacked by several dudes at the same time multiplies the risk, especially when they all feed off each other's adrenaline and actions.

It doesn't take a lot of physical abuse to become deadly. If someone punches me, and I have a gun, I'm shooting them... and if I have a knife, I'm stabbing them, period.
