Now, more than ever, it's time to support the Animal Rescue agencies operating in this area...especially those who do not get money from the federal, state or local government. They are going to be responsible for taking these dogs in when the kennels close, and find them homes.

The Humane League can't handle it, and will end up destroying these dogs, rather than giving them the time and rehabilitation they really need! It's the local rescue groups that will take the time, and will take in ALL the dogs, without respect to their "adoptability".

When you talk to a rescue group, you should ask if they are completely 501©(3) tax exempt, if they are registered with the state, and if they take in all dogs without any respect to their condition. There are agencies like this right here in the area that will take in these dogs, and would appreciate your help and support!
Rescue Truth
I can't believe anybody thinks Amish treat their animals well! They are some of the worst! They just use the dogs as money makers! They don't even understand why you would want a dog in your house!

In looking at all of the dogs available on petfinder.com I think a moratorium should be put on puppy mills. There is no reason to breed more dogs right now with all of the unwanted pets. Puppy mills should be outlawed! I don't think Governor Rendell went far enough with the new laws!

"They just use the dogs as money makers!"

And, what, pray tell, is wrong with that? No different than breeding and raising cattle, pigs, ducks, or chickens. People have to make a living some way. If there is a demand for pups, then try to supply it. No demand, no supply! Capeche? Isn't that what a lot of people say about the illegal drug problem?

And why would you want a dog--or any animal--in your house? Fleas, ticks, diseases--EWWW! Better off with a pot-bellied pig--at least you can eat him when his usefulness is gone.

Wait--I think in some countries they eat dogs. Hey, I like dogs--they're delicious! Mmm! Mmm! Good!
