Police said accidents are common at Manheim Auto Auction because of the large work force and moving vehicles. One officer said police are dispatched there in response to accidents almost every auction day (Fridays and every other Thursday).

"Every (week) people are getting hurt over there," Officer Jason Riggle said. "But, usually it's not four at a time."

This surprises me. My mother worked at the auction from the time I was in my mid teens until she died when I was 32 years old and I don't recall her mentioning one accident let alone one on every auction day!

I don't know why everyone is so quick to judge and call these people stupid and say they can't drive. Who are we to assume that was the case? It never says what happened. For all you know or I know, the brakes may have failed on this vehicle or some other mechanical error. Try thinking with an open mind.

Copied & pasted from the article
The SUV driver bailed out of the vehicle to warn the women to get out of the way. The warning was too late, and the SUV collided with the car's front end, also striking the workers. Manheim and Warwick ambulances transported the employees to LGH. Two of the workers were released later in the day, Rossi said.

What part of baled out of the vehicle don't you understand? You can throw it into a lower gear or reverse or steer it around and if nothing else, hit something stationary. The speeds, although fast for inside a building, wouldn't kill the driver. There are airbags in vehicles. Unless...he was trying to not hurt the vehicle. No matter what...don't let him on the road, if this is how he handles an emergency!!!

people wonder what happened with these accidents well im here to tell you. mass production, hurry up and get these cars done, they get 2 dollars a car so the pressure to move these vehicles out the door is the only thing on the employees minds. you can never trust any car you get in a malfunction can happen at any time. the auction is only worried about the money, they want to put the small recons out of bussiness so they can make all the money, but guess what us small recons don't put peoples lives in danger every day. some one needs to investigate the goings on on this private property. and those of you who stick up for these people need to open your eyes, oh but then again you work in another field besides recon!

If you've ever driven around Manheim and have seen how these auction drivers or the out-of-state dealers and their drivers drive you would understand why people jump to quick conclusions about this incident. At best most of their driving skills and abilities to follow traffic laws are pathetic. Running red lights up to at least 3 or more cars some times after the light turns red. Hardly ever stopping at the stop signs especially at S. Colebrook and Auction. Those signs are just options to them most don't even slow down before S'ing/doglegging through that intersection. Flying through school zones while children are trying to cross the streets, disobeying the traffic police there to protect the children and guide buses through tight intersections. They pretty much run amok through our streets putting lives in peril and ALL their cars are never equipped with turn signals. And it's b/c of the post above "They do so much for our community" they get away with it. Regardless of the generosity of any one business, they should not wreck havoc with their behavior b/c of it. I don't believe they really pay all that much in school taxes, I need to check that out, so they compensate with their donations. Not near what they used to when Greg Gehman was their "go to" man and not near what they'd have to fairly pay in taxes like other businesses in the community must.

all I know is that it seems that a lot of the dealers come from New York and New Jersey and they're A-holes! Especially the Russians from NY/NJ...I wish there was an auction in NY/NJ so these idiots would stay there.
