Admit tho, non Amish longtime residents....you don't see ANY TRUTH to what PML says? I don't think kids belong on the roads w/teams of plowhorses. I also think buggies should have license plates so that we can tell them apart. I think its sad the girls esp are pulled out of school so early. That doesn't make me an 'Amish hater' tho, does it? Its just my oppinion.....

Hahaha, Is Paula cross eyed and missing some brain matter too, or is that she is part Amish and doesn't believe in spell check?

--edit to add-- Or even hit edit to fix her mistakes like I just did!

Please post links to prove your assertion of who the Amish voted for. Do they even vote??? Plus, given secret ballot, how do you know who they voted for?

The Amish pay taxes.

And just FYI? Freedom of religion allows them to practice their faith in whatever form they wish. Just as freedom of speech insures your right to make a total fool out of yourself on a daily, if not hourly basis.

It has been reported and not a real stretch to figure out that the Amish are anti abortion. They reportedly vote in droves and vote regularly and ALWAYS vote for the pro life candidate no matter what his views on war, or education.
I have learned from these posts that they do pay taxes BUT they do not pay SS tax and no they do not collect so can I say I am a Methodist or Catholic and I do not believe in SS and will not collect and keep my ss tax every year? Of course not. Can any of you pull your kid out of school in 8th grade and not get prosecuted based on being Jewish, Catholic or any other religion. Look how closely home schoolers are monitored to make sure those children are educated based on state law. Amish get around it. What part of any religion says you can not operate a vehicle but a tractor is just fine? This is what I don;t get. It seems that they use religion when it suits them.
My hubby did some work for an Amish business and they had computers in the office to make money but can not use one in their homes. Again can you pick and choose when you practice your religion? I can ride in a car but I refuse to pay for one or pay to inusre one so that if I injure someone they can have their medical bills paid.
You know it is funny, we don;t have car insurance for us, it is to protect us from lawsuits in case we injure someone else. If we wreck our own car, we usually end up paying anyway since you only get accident forgiveness ONE time and if you have another accident in three years they can drop you. I hit a mailbox once and we simply paid the $1200 out of pocket because we want to save the accident forgiveness for the big one

Again I don;t know of any other religion that allows you to deny your children education, put them behind the "wheel" on major highways at any age you deem appropriate and put them to work with dangerous equipment. Then let them watch while you execute innocent puppies. What any of that has to do with GOD or Jesus, who loved all animals I have no idea. If your ten yr old killed somone on the road, he would be charged with vehicular homocide. If he took your car and caused damage, you would be liable. I guess horsecide is different. Look I don;t care that they don;t watch tv or have running water. That is thier problem but when they let thier kiddies drive on my roads that I pay for through car registration and then they cause an accident and I am held up in traffic or have damage or injuries you bet someone else is paying because I certainly am not.

You know, now that your post made me think about it. I know 2 childless women, one is a great, wonderful Aunt and volunteer. The other is a complainer also, the world is unfair, she deserves everything she wants no matter what. She is also a big "the world revolves around me" type of person and gets ticked if she doesn't get the proper attention.

Thanks for the post dee, it was very insightful.

I also know women who chose to remain childless and Dee you are absolutely right about the way they act. Never thought about it but since you pointed it out, I now have a better understanding why they act the way they do. Thanks!!

When are they going to FORCE these people to buy a CAR??????????????????????
Heck if they did they might be able to save the auto industry.
I'm so sick and tired of reading about car & buggy crash's. I don't give a rats butt about the people! The horse on the other hand never asked to be put on the road as a target.
I also don't want to her any of you bitching that I'm a animal freak. Know why? Because I AM.
I wouldn't pee on most humans if they were on fire. I've been done dirty by to many and have given up on 90% of humans.

That's a great idea. Lets "force" them to drive cars and in turn drive them right out of our county. Yeah, let's get rid of all the revenue the bring into the county. That's great thinking. We don't force anyone else to go against their religious beliefs, why should we force these hard working folks to do so. That's like saying we need to get bicycles off the road too. What needs to happen is people need to slow down on back roads with huge hills and windy turns. Put the blame where it belongs 9 times out of ten it's on the driver of the car who was traveling too fast and it could've been a kid on the street running after a ball instead of a horse and buggy. If you can't see ahead you shouldn't be driving that fast. Don't outdrive your line of sight.
