didn't have any trouble getting out of the city and i truly never mind when there is a special event. when you live in the city these events are part of the reason to live in town and you just plan for them.

and as for those who wonder what good it does, it is a fundraiser for the ywca. if you have never attended the event than perhaps you ought not to criticize it. stay in your homogeneous world and let the rest of us enjoy each other out here in the real world.

Feel sorry for the people who could not get to their homes or get out of town, because of the blocked roads. Another reason not to live in the city.

Foot races are never anything more than a minor nuisance, since police will generally let motorists pass when no runners are in the immediate vicinity of an intersection.

It is bicycle races that really mess up traffic.

The foot race did block a major street next to where we live. Fortunately, I had left town before the race began.

I do agree. If you are going to hold a race for the YMCA, why not call it:
"YMCA Run" ?

Quoted from the article ----

The money pays for YWCA's racial justice programs. These are anti-bias programs for the workplace and for children and youth.

I experienced a bit of this. I was trying to get to my mom's. They turned us around at the H.S. It was no big deal. I had to drive 3 more minutes. Given some of the problems in Lancaster, I'll gladly take being inconvenienced in this small way when it's for a cause like this was. I never minded the bike races either. It's one afternoon, it's advertised. Do they take some of my time away from me, yes, but when I see the people on the side of the road cheering, it's ok with me.
