QUOTE (justplainjoe @ May 19 2009, 07:15 AM)
who drives a station wagon these days?

Anyone who drives a "Crossover" or a mini van as they are modern glorified station wagons at heart.
I have a mini van and love it, so I drive a station wagon too

Interestingly, Old 60's station wagons that are in good shape have skyrocketed in price in the last 5 years.
Oldsmobile Vista Cruise models especially.

contact your legislator instead of accusing the police of not doing their job. DUI doesn't instantly land someone in jail...all the police can do is file the charges and let the courts do the rest. If you aren't happy with how the system works, maybe you should contact your state rep and lobby for a change in the rules of criminal procedure

Don't let these people get under your skin! They have no idea what they are talking about. I've got an idea! Get rid of lawyers and we won't have all this red tape right? As far as the police doing their jobs, I'd have to say the twps. and boroughs do a fairly good job with the amt. of ground they cover with a minimal number of officers. The city, well that's a sore subject with me and I'm not going to say much about those guys!

my question is how this man has his license? If his last DUI was in 07, he shouldn't have it...right?

Unless they have changed it the second offense is 1 year loss of license. This would be his third so he is done now! The ridiculous thing here is after he gets out he can still own a car. No laws prevent this man from owning a car, they just forbid him from driving them. Anyone think a guy like this is going to stop driving, license or not?

Once again, thank you to the officers for doing their job and catching this guy in time for an accurate brethalizer. Thank you too to the citizens who were quick thinking and got the guy's plate #.

I really feel sorry for this man. He is obviously and acoholic with a serious problem and he needs help. Alcoholism is a disease and is not understood by those who don't have it or haven't ever lived with it. He cannot and will not change until he recognizes this and unfortunately unless the law forces him into an inpatient rehab facility for 30 days to dry out and get help it will take either a tragedy for him to realize it or he will die from it.

I agree that there should be a way to keep alocoholics from having the ability to use their weapons (automobiles, cyles, etc.) while awaiting trial for their offenses. They do have a device that can be placed in their vehicle that they have to breathe into in order to start the vehicle and if they're over the limit it will not start, but I'm not sure what is involved in getting that device into place. I do think that they should be held in jail until bail can be paid if it is their 2nd or more offense and their car should be impounded, in the event that they can pay bail to be released, and only allowed to be claimed after their trial/sentencing has been completed and they are cleared to drive again.

All sorts of solutions, but the first one should be getting this man some serious help with his disease before it kills someone else or him.
