In two different ways, the Lancaster Barnstormers went 0-for-7 against Somerset lefty Brian Adams on Tuesday.

Adams fired seven shutout innings in a matinee game at TD Bank Park, pitching the Somerset Patriots to a 10-0 shutout win in the second game of a four-game series between the Freedom Division rivals.

In the process, Adams ran his career record to 7-0 against Lancaster, dating back to his Pitcher of the Year campaign in 2007.

The South Carolina native allowed five hits and a walk while striking out four before giving way to fellow southpaws Brian Henderson and Shaun Babula. Lancaster never had a runner beyond second base in the game.

The Barnstormers' best chance to score came in the sixth when Lloyd Turner singled and Danny Bravo reached on an error by shortstop Anthony Granato. Adams retired the side in order after that on two fly balls and a line drive.

Lancaster's Bryan Sabatella had a perfect game in the process. The first baseman was 3-for-3 with the only walk drawn off Somerset pitching and Lancaster's only extra-base hit, a double in the ninth.

Sean Smith drove in five runs for the Patriots and cracked his first home run of the season, a three-run blast in the seventh.

Lancaster starter Eric Ackerman (2-1) loaded the bases in the second inning on a one-out single and two walks. Granato provided Somerset with its first run on a deep sacrifice fly to center, and Smith followed with a double flared over Sabatella's head at first base.

Somerset picked up a third run on a wild pitch in the fourth inning, then blew the game wide open in the fifth. Josh Pressley and Jeff Nettles opened the inning with singles to left. Matt Hagen doubled to left for a 4-0 lead. A bloop hit to left center by Jason Belcher brought Nettles home, and Hagen scored when David Housel tried to cut him down at third base, and his throw sailed into the dugout.

The Barnstormers play the next two nights in Somerset before heading home to take on Bridgeport Friday evening at 7:05.

Notes: Lancaster has been outscored, 17-0, in the last 13 innings. … The Barnstormers are 0-9 outside of Pennsylvania. … Ackerman is 4-8 against Somerset in his career.
