It didn't take long for Manor Township Police to identify the robbery suspect.

Now all they have to do is find him.

Around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said, a gunman robbed the clerk at the CVS store, 2020 Columbia Ave., escaping with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries.

Between surveillance camera video and other information, police have identified the suspect and issued warrants for the arrest of Anthony Thompson, 25, with no permanent address.

Police said the robber was seen leaving the store parking lot in a white Pontiac sedan, which was then followed by Millersville and Lancaster City police officers down Wabank Road.

The suspect abandoned the car and fled the scene on foot, leaving behind some of the stolen money and the gun.

A short time later, police received a call from the car's owner, an acquaintance of Thompson's, reporting that her vehicle had been stolen.

Manor Township Police Sgt. James Alexander said that the township and Mountville Borough, which they also patrol, have had an increased number of similar "brazen and bold" robberies during the past five months.

"In fact, we're equal at this point to the number of robberies we had over all of last year," Alexander said. The eight robberies, he said, include both strong-arm-type holdups and ones with weapons.

When asked the reason for the increase, Alexander said, "the economy has something to do with this, as well as the large population growth we've seen in the past few years."

Interesting timing, especially if the perp has a cell phone. Bet she knows where he is.
