Thieves broke into a second-floor apartment in Ephrata early Wednesday morning and stole about $5,000 worth of items, police said.

Missing from the home in the 500 block of West Main Street were a laptop computer, electronic games, tools and other items.
Police did not identify the owner but said the thief crawled in through a bathroom window sometime in the night. The burglary was discovered around 5 a.m. Wednesday.
In Manheim Township, Thomas Ebright, Lancaster, told police that all four tires were stolen from his Honda Civic parked in the 400 block of Parkwynne Road on Wednesday morning. The loss was $2,400, police said.
Thieves also smashed a window on a car belonging to Carlos Rosado, Lancaster, while it was parked in the 800 block of Pleasure Road on Wednesday morning. A stereo was removed from the vehicle, police said, for a loss of $400.
New Holland Borough Police have filed theft charges against Michael P. Marshall, 29, of 545 Meetinghouse Road, Gap, for allegedly stealing a woman's purse around 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said Marshall was visiting a woman in the home, when he grabbed the purse and ran from the residence. The purse contained $200, police said.
