An Ephrata woman was injured early this morning when she lost control of the car she was driving on a wet road and crashed into a tree, state police said.

Linda K. Stauffer, 59, was traveling west on Hopeland Road, in Clay Township, shortly after midnight, police said, when the road was wet and covered with leaves.

Stauffer lost control of the vehicle, police said, and crashed into a large tree just west of Kleinfeltersville Road.

She had to be pulled from the wreckage by volunteers from the Brickerville Fire Company and was taken to Lancaster General Hospital, where she was listed in good condition today, a hospital spokesman said.

In a separate accident, a young Willow Street man escaped serious injury when his car crashed into an embankment and flipped onto its roof shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday, state police said.

Derek G. Brubaker, 18, was driving westbound on Penn Grant Road, police said, when his car crossed into the eastbound lane, hit an embankment on the south side of the road and flipped onto its roof.

Trooper James Spencer said Brubaker was wearing a seat belt and suffered only minor injuries.
