City police tried to stop a 17-year-old juvenile male for a curfew violation in the first block of East Filbert Street at 1:44 a.m. Saturday when the youth fled, discarding a .45-caliber handgun. Police said the youth had cocaine in his possession; he also had an outstanding juvenile detainer.

The boy was charged with possession of cocaine, loitering and prowling, a curfew violation, a "firearms not to be carried without a license" violation and possession of firearms by a minor, city police said.
Also, city police arrested Franklin Brindisalamo, 37, of the 100 block of South Queen Street, at 12:37 a.m. Saturday in the first block of West Farnum Street.
Police said Brindisalamo was in possession of cocaine and marijuana.
ARMED ROBBERY: An employee at the Sonic Drive-In restaurant, 4247 Oregon Pike, suffered minor injuries during a struggle with a robber Friday night.
West Earl Township police reported that a white male, medium build, in his 20s, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and armed with a knife, robbed the employee and fled the scene in a dark blue Dodge or Plymouth Neon with dark-tinted windows. The incident happened about 9:27 p.m. No further details were available Saturday night.
CRASHES: Two motorcycle accidents happened at almost the same time late Saturday night, according to county radio dispatchers.
A pedestrian was reportedly struck by a cycle at South Front and Locust streets, Columbia Borough, at 10:17 p.m., dispatchers said. One person was taken to Lancaster General Hospital, police said.
At the same time, a motorcycle accident was reported at Turnpike and Freys roads, West Donegal Township, dispatchers said. Further details were unavailable late Saturday night.
BURGLARY: A Dewalt 12-inch miter saw, value $400; a Dewalt compound miter saw, value $400 and an air compressor, value $300, were stolen between Thursday and Friday from a property under construction in the 200 block of Lancaster Avenue, city police reported.
CITY FIRE: A Saturday afternoon blaze, apparently caused by soldering, caused $2,500 in damage to a city house.
Capt. Ed Haubert, of the Lancaster City Bureau of Fire, said a plumber was working on renovations to a second-floor bathroom in a house in the 600 block of St. Joseph Street, soldering some pipes. The plumber left around 3 p.m.; about two hours later, homeowners Kevin and Gloria Kirby returned home, smelled something, and alerted city firefighters.
Haubert said there was "heavy charring" in a wall. Apparently, some insulation had caught fire. No injuries were reported.
Also, a fire reported at the Wachovia bank building at North Queen and Orange streets turned out not to be one.
Haubert said a generator test in the building was "basically blowing off steam," and that someone, seeing what was mistaken for smoke, alerted city firefighters. The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
CORRUPTING MINORS: Alexander Marulanda, 29, of the first block of Granite Drive, East Earl, was charged with corruption of minors and furnishing alcoholic beverages to minors and committed to Lancaster County Prison Wednesday in lieu of $10,000 bail.
New Holland police reported the father of a 15-year-old New Holland boy filed a complaint and turned over the boy's cell phone, which held messages from Marulanda regarding alcohol.
CRASH: Four persons were taken to Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash around 10 a.m. Saturday in Warwick Township.
Warwick Township police Sgt. Joshua Kilgore said the vehicles collided nearly head-on at a bend in Hackman Road. One was driven by Bridget Merkey, 31, of the 500 block of Hackman Road, Lititz, and carried three children; the other was driven by Sarah Phero, 30, of the 200 block of Yummerdale Road, Lititz. That vehicle carried six children.
The officer credited seat belts, child safety seats and an air bag for preventing more severe injuries.
ITEMS RECOVERED: Ephrata police reported stopping a boy at 6 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Sand Court and finding in his possession items stolen from vehicles parked in the area.
Anyone who had items stolen from a vehicle between 3 and 6 a.m. Saturday may call police at 738-9200; arrange to file a report and identify the items, according to Sgt. Tony S. Russell.
THEFTS FROM VEHICLES: A pair of women's prescription sunglasses with black frames, estimated value $450, and about $10 in loose change was stolen from a car parked in the 300 block of Race Avenue between Thursday and Friday, city police reported.
•A Dell laptop computer was taken from a vehicle in the 100 block of Pennshire Drive, Lancaster Township, sometime Thursday or Friday, city police said.
VANDALISM: A passenger window of a 1994 Subaru was broken in the first block of East Clay Street between Thursday and Friday, city police reported.
•A driver's-side window of a vehicle in the 400 block of South Ann Street was broken out by either a BB or pellet gun sometime Thursday or Friday, city police reported.
WARRANTS: Mark A. Donlen, 40, of the first block of West Charlotte Street, Manheim, was stopped for a traffic violation at 2:13 a.m. Friday in the first block of West Orange Street by city police.
Donlen was then arrested on a summary warrant, police said.
•Jose A. Rosado, 25, of the 1800 block of Heritage Avenue, was stopped by city police at 1:23 a.m. Friday on a suspicious activity complaint in the 700 block of Columbia Avenue, city police said. Rosado was then arrested on an outstanding bench warrant.
•Edwin S. Rosa, 24, of the 400 block of West King Street, was arrested by city police at 3:20 a.m. Friday at his home for failure to pay a summary warrant, police said.
