1% of the WORLD'S CO2 from pa alone?!?

that's utter bull$h!t

"Pennsylvania ranks third among all 50 states for its total emissions of carbon dioxide, which is a greenhouse gas linked to global warming."

No, no its not. Water vapor has a much, much, much bigger impact on warming. And the Earth only warms in response to the sun. CO2 increases FOLLOW temperature increases- they do not cause it (how could they- it comes after the warming event). Besides, CO2 is good for the environment (plants use it) and warmer weather is also good (more plant life and hence more animal life- like humans).

Not to mention that A) the Earth has not warmed since 2000 and it was actually warmer 1000 years ago before the rise of industrial society.

I know that learning makes your head hurt. That's ok. Just tune the TV to the latest reality-celebrity show and you'll be OK.

We do know what is below our feet, our water. In very porous limestone.

"I don't think limestone is a mystery."

Lancaster County has a very complicated geological history. Limestone is no mystery, except when it's schist, or shale, or quartzite, or sandstone. And what's under that? And what is under that? I hope none of these writers are part of the "drill, baby, drill" set.

"Just more useless information."

I hear many complaints about the failure of public schools. My kid has done VERY well in public schools, thank you very much. I can't help but wonder about the effect of anti-intellectual, and particularly anti-science attitudes picked up from parents on the desire of children to learn. Why would a child strive to excel when it's "Just more useless information."?

And then there is the whole CO2, Global Warming thing. Are we to believe that thousands of scientists from every country in the world have joined together to promote bad math, bad physics, and bad chemistry for the purpose of...I can't even speculate how that could be true.

As to the geological research. I think the timing is bad. In times of budget crunches, it can wait. But I think it is important work, and may yield some very valuable information.

No, it's not a hard number to calculate. You just find out how much of what type of fuel is being used, and then it's just a simple multiplication problem. Why would anyone lie when it would be so easy to prove them wrong?
