A tiny tan Chihuahua puppy "with droopy ears" has apparently found a new home — but not legally.

The puppy was reported stolen Wednesday afternoon from PJ's Pet Shop, 109 Doe Run Road, Manheim.

Niki Hilt, co-owner of the pet store, said Friday she had just brought the puppy back from the veterinarian, "so I know he weighs 2.2 pounds, and he's had all his shots."

The 7-week-old male puppy was described by Hilt as all tan, "with droopy ears." He is valued at $600.

Hilt told Penn Township police that shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday the dog was taken from his cage during a 10-minute period. At the same time, four teenagers were in the store looking at the animals, she said.

Police described three suspects as teenage girls, all Caucasian, with fair, lightly freckled skin. All three, who police said looked enough alike to be sisters, had medium to long brunette hair.

One girl, who was about 16-years old, is about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, police said.

They were accompanied by a teenage boy with "dark shaggy hair," Hilt said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Jason Riggle at 665-6959.

So yesterday my granddaughter coaxed a Husky to her that was running loose at the intersection of Lincoln Hwy. and Strasburg Rd. The nice folks in Turkey Hill gave her a tether to use while phone calls were made. The dog was wearing a Humane League tag. She called them to come and get the dog. They wouldn't get the dog, but said they would call the NEW owner to get the dog. Why would they let the NEW owner have this dog back? Nobody was responsible with this dog.

This is what is pathetic about our country sometimes. Someone has been victimized. They had something wrongfully taken from them. But, once again, bleeding hearts, instead of focusing their energy on the person who was wronged, blames and criticizes the victim.

The more they're around people the more they like their dogs?

We got our dog from the humane league, so I understand. What causes that problem is careless and irresponsible owners, period.
And I would say you are clueless to think a teen would have done this due to some sort of social responsibility.

No, you may be the clueless one. Teenagers are at an age where they become 'socially conscious' and everyone who doesn't live in a cave in this neck of the woods knows that puppy mills cater to pet shops. You are probably right...probably some teen who wants to carry a pup in a designer bag...................no need to get ugly.
