(2)One female passenger was airlifted to Hershey Medical Center and the driver and another passenger, both males, were transported by ambulance to Lancaster General Hospital, according to Manheim Fire Department Assistant Chief Duane Ober.
Ober said that all three victims appeared to be teenagers. State police did not release their names Tuesday night, and their conditions were not immediately available.
According to Ober, the three were traveling southbound in a sedan on Shumaker Road north of Manheim when the driver lost control of the vehicle just north of Old Line Road at about 7:15 p.m.
The vehicle skidded off the roadway, smashed into a telephone pole and came to rest amid gravestones in a small cemetery, he said.
Ober said two of the victims had to be extricated from the vehicle. He said all three victims were conscious when they were transported from the scene.
At press time, the cause of the crash was unknown.
State police accident-reconstruction experts remained at the scene late Tuesday.
Shumaker Road was closed from Old Line Road to Oak Tree Road for several hours.
Manheim Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Mastersonville Fire Company, Susquehanna EMS and ambulance units from Manheim and Warwick and Manheim townships.
