You know, this post raises a lot of really important and perplexing issues, like WHAT THE HECK IS A NARVON AND WHY DO WE HAVE THE ONLY TOWN IN THE WHOLE COUNTRY CALLED THAT? Sounds like a mentally challenged extra-terrestrial, or a mysterious and potentially synthetic and carcinogenic fabric blend, or some as-yet-undiscovered element that, like Krypton, makes people act in strange and unexplainable ways. "Mommy, why is that man drooling and why doesn't he zipper his pants?" "Don't worry honey, he's a Narvon, they are only just now adjusting to earth's customs"

And being in that state and LIKING it is called Narvona.

Yes, what the girl did was abhorrent. There's no mistaking that. But before we make sweeping generalizations about today's teens and 20-somethings (what are they now, Generation Y? Gen-Next?), let's remember one thing...

It all began with their parents. At some point, today's parents started being "friends" with their kids rather than parents. Now we have an entire generation who was raised by South Park, the Family Guy, and the dysfunctional on MTV.

From the baby boomers on down, parents started dropping the ball. Now I'm sure I'll receive plenty of responses that say, "I was a parent; my children would NEVER act this way!". No, maybe not shoving grandpa down the stairs, but your kids certainly aren't angels. Trust me. It's an unpleasant fact, but it's one that must be faced.

The parents are often just as indecent and discourteous as the children. It all starts there.

Please don't forget the Simpsons in that pile of garbage we call tv shows.

Isn't Narvon what I used to take for cramps ?

I actually did see one troubled young girl go into the military about 2 years ago, and you'd never know she had issues, to look at her now. My comment wasn't meant to discard the girl in the military so society doesn't have to deal with her. It was meant that she needs some serious structure and discipline in her life, and the military can do that for people. I've heard alot about this family, and I assure you, there is no structure there.

I was "knee-jerk" responding, I didn't think you were trying to dispose of her.

I too have seen many turn-arounds - myself included. Some of the kids I grew up with and went to school with are dead, in the gutter or in jail. I've been none of those thus far - although dead is disputible at times.
