This is a tough one. If I thought a teacher of ANY age who had worked with my child in that capacity (ever!) had layed a hand on my daughter, I would want him arrested. HOWEVER, my mind goes to my neighbor's 16 year old daughter who is dating a 22 year old guy (with her parents knowledge). As sick as I think that is (what the heck does a 22 year old want with a 16 year old??), it happens. Girls at that age are "intrigued" by older guys and guys at that age are immature.
It is your opinion that someone who is 22 is dating someone who is 16 is sick. Where do you draw the line on the age/dating criteria? Without going into details, when I was 35 I had a young woman asking me out and she was of legal age, but much younger (just short of drinking age). Is that "sick" in your mind too that she pursued me? If the young lady in the story is 17 and has graduated/out of high school, this story should be laid to rest. Hey, I know.....maybe the officer was jealous? LOL!!

And whomever said she may be a college freshman is right. What if it was a few months down the road and she was in college? I'd be willing to bet there would be nothing said because the parents would feel they didn't have that sort of say in her life.
I'm with ya'all who think it's the parents......OR......possibly the girl got dumped and is getting back @ him.
If she had been dumped, why would she be sitting in the car with him? I wish I had the money so I could pay for an attorney to defend this young man. He may be innocent as hell and has to try and defend his innocence. BS! That officer and the DA should have to prove that he was doing something to corrupt this young lady.
