A man in his 30s is missing after jumping off a boat in the Susquehanna River around 1 a.m. Saturday, one mile south of Peach Bottom Marina.

Another man in the 12-foot boat was starting the motor when he looked over his shoulder and saw the victim enter the water, Capt. Chris Hodgden of Robert Fulton Fire Company said.

"He was jumping in the water with a flashlight," Hodgden said. "We have no idea why, it makes no sense."

When the man did not resurface, the boat operator went to the marina for help.

Hodgden noted that the water level is high due to recent rain.

Water Witch Fire Company Station 7, Port Deposit, Md., led the search until it was transferred to Robert Fulton Fire Company at about 11 a.m.

Also conducting the search were Conestoga, Highville, Rawlinsville and Washington Boro fire companies.

The search was called off at 3 p.m.

No further information was released. The Fish and Boat Commission is investigating.

I thought surely there would be more crack/cocaine/heroin busts. A couple big busts and LE relaxes? Not surprising.
