No one is actually interested in the details of the actual sport and event.

Speak for yourself, I am completely interested in the details of the actual sport and event. I myself, ride 45-60 miles a day, and race on the weekends. There is a very large cycling and bike enthusiast population in Lancaster County. Who knows, this story may inspire someone who rarely touches a bicycle to get out to the countryside and pedal a few miles.

I am going to guess you are the type of person who honks at cyclists to get off the road, or carelessly speeds around them in an attempt to get to a stop sign first.

Oh your one of those people who like to ride in the middle of the road in spandex thinking they can servive getting hit by a car . I hope the boy doesnt win we have way to many people riding their bikes in the flow of traffic around here. If he wins it will only bring more of the nuts out. Its like they have a lawyer sitting in their house just waiting to sue someone . I saw a pack of them just yesterday 3 deep on the road crossing 272 with a line of cars behind them and they just stayed where they were not moveing to the side of the road so they could pass them . Arrogant dweebs are traffic hazzards . If anyone is careless its them for getting in the way of a 2000 + pound car or truck and acting like so what i dare you to hit me im not moving. Didnt your mothers teach you not to play in traffic ?

Great human interest story. Local guy makes good and his parents are proud. Nothing wrong with a good news story once in a while.

I don't understand why posters who think that the paper is not printing the truth and can't be trusted continue to read them. Some will say that it is the only way to find out what's going on in the county but if they can't be trusted, why read them?

No, I do not try to take on a big box of metal on wheels by riding in the middle of the road. I know what you are talking about, and it angers me as well, those types give guys like me a bad rap. I ride as close to the side of the road as possible, even then idiots get a little too close for comfort. I have every right to ride my bike on the road. I must obey all of the same laws as you. Lancaster County has become more and more congested over the past decade, going for a nice bike ride is near impossible because drivers are too focused on getting someplace else as fast as they can. Does that give them the right to cut me off and treat me like a second class citizen? NO! I fully agree, there are some arrogant cyclists out there who seem to think they will control the flow of traffic, and I do not ride with those guys. There are more cyclists than that who do respect the furry of the automobile, so try and give them the benefit of the doubt. Regardless of how cyclists act on the road, motorists need to be more alert and forgiving. "Arrogant dweebs are traffic hazzards" goes both ways. It only takes a few seconds extra to slow down, and pass a cyclists in a safe manner.

By your attitude, and the fact that Armstrong has won it the past seven years, geez, you motorists may be overcome by spokes. God forbid more people get off their lazy rear ends and be healthier because someone like Lance or Floyd inspired them to do so.

Sigh.
This is called "taking the lane", and is most often safer than allowing some "fool/idiot" motorist to attempt to pass, putting a whole lot of people at potential danger. It is also LEGAL to do when one's safety depends on doing so.
Take a Zen Chill Pill, go with the flow, and try to enjoy whatever beauty and serenity remains of Lancaster .
Yes, some group riders get lazy, and abuse it, but 2 50something group riders where just killed out here- I say its safer grouping up, taking the lane, than riding single file, and getting killed.
I see autos overtaking other cars when they shouldn't, so it is mostly a matter of impatient= Unsafe motorists more than anything else, IMHO.
