(2)East Cocalico Township police were dispatched to the parking lot of Weaver Markets, 2590 N. Reading Road, Adamstown, at 3:13 p.m. for a vehicle accident involving a struck child, police said.
Bryan Wood, 42, of Ephrata, had been operating a go-kart in the parking lot with a group of people, police said.
The 6-year-old boy, a relative of Wood, was struck and injured by the go-kart, police said. A 15-year-old Terre Hill girl riding with Wood also was injured.
Wood was not injured in the wreck, police said.
Reamstown Ambulance and Medic 4 treated the boy at the scene, police said. He was flown to Hershey Medical Center by Pennstar Helicopter with life-threatening injuries.
Police said Monday he was in critical condition.
Reinholds Ambulance treated the girl on the scene and transported her to Reading Hospital, where she was later released, police said.
Police are investigating the crash.
Weaver Markets General Manager Mike Weaver said the store and restaurant at the complex at Routes 897 and 272 were closed at the time of the accident.
Weaver Markets did not give anyone permission to drive on the property, he said.
