Lancaster police are continuing to investigate the case of a missing city woman, according to a news release Friday.

Lydia Colon-Torres, 33, was last seen by family members on Sept. 25 at her 324 Beaver St. residence.

City police also are working with Manor Township police, the Lancaster County coroner's office, the district attorney's office and Lancaster County detectives as part of an investigation regarding the discovery Thursday of the body of a deceased woman along the shore of the Susquehanna River.

A supervisor at Lancaster County-Wide Communications said police were dispatched to the area of Water (Route 441) and Donegal streets in Washington Boro about 9:30 a.m. Thursday, and fire crews were dispatched a short time later to aid in the recovery of the body.

At this point, there is no confirmation that the body of the woman found in Manor Township is that Colon-Torres, and all of the agencies involved are working together to determine the identity of the deceased woman.

Police are seeking assistance in both investigations. Anyone with information should contact the Lancaster city police at 735-3300 or the Manor Township police at 299-5231.

Sure is taking them a long time to identify the body. I bet they already know who it is and aren't saying yet.

I agree.

That's pretty damned crude considering no information is available about her except that she is missing.

ijezbelle72 may be a ding bell from that comment.

This article said body found "near" the river, when prior articles said found "in" the river. Just poor Lancaster reporting or is there a question where she was found.
