A Gordonville man has been charged with attacking his girlfriend with a baseball bat as she slept Saturday morning in their home.

State police said Calvin B. Lynch, 31, of 205B Maple St., also kept the woman confined to a bedroom for more than eight hours by threatening further abuse if she tried to flee.

The 29-year-old victim, who was not identified by police, was struck multiple times in the head and arm and suffered a fractured elbow and numerous lacerations as the result of the assault, Trooper Samuel Laureto said Monday.

She was treated at Lancaster General Hospital and released.

Laureto called the assault "completely unprovoked."

According to police, Lynch woke the victim at about 12:30 a.m. by delivering several blows with a baseball bat. He then proceeded to choke the victim unconscious, police said.

After she regained consciousness, Lynch kept the woman confined to the bedroom by threatening her with more violence, police said.

"She wasn't physically restrained but emotionally … she was scared to leave," Laureto said. "She feared for her life if she didn't do what he said."

The victim told police that Lynch smoked crack cocaine throughout the assault.

Lynch eventually left the residence, taking the couple's cell phone with him, at which time the victim went to a neighbor's home and called police, Laureto said.

Police were able to track Lynch to Salisbury Township, where he was arrested Sunday at the home of a relative.

He is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, recklessly endangering another person and possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Lynch was arraigned before District Judge Bruce Roth and committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.

I got it. Probably because of the way I present thoughts sometimes.

What does that have to do with you? LOL Did I offend you somehow?

lol omgosh. I didn't need to laugh this hard. That's too much. No, you did NOT offend me. I am laughing so hard and hitting wrong keys.

I agreed with you. I was saying I understood your post. The same one others are down on you for. I got what you meant. Of course, that's probably because I tend to present my thoughts sorta backwards which requires explanation lots of times. I can understand me and sometimes it's beyond me why others can't. Maybe my way is rubbing off on you? (laughing)

Did you ever think that perhaps me or someone else here may actually know him/her? Had that thought ever crossed your mind?
I do know the victim here..and also the suspect..Don't know much about their current situation but knew them well when they dated many yrs ago..as near as I can remember the suspect wasn't right then..The neighborhood where the victim lived was terrorised by the suspects behavior Hell I remember one night when the suspect was in a rage and drove a van at high speed up the street and through an intersection without stopping continued up the street and drove the van onto the railroad tracks then ran before police arrived..I also know he spent time in jail and the victim dated someone else during his incarceration..they rekindled their relationship when he was released..soooooooo I guess that nutty side never really left him..

It sounds like there's more than one nutty side. In any case, no one deserves to be beaten with a bat while they're sleeping and she's the only victim here.
