Luis "Tony" Delgado, 34, and his brother, Hector Delgado, 37, formerly of Lancaster, were fatally shot in their Lowell, Mass., apartment at about 1:30 a.m. Friday, according to the Lowell Sun newspaper.

Tanya Mack, 37, of Lancaster, notified the Sunday News of their deaths. Mack said she considers them her brothers because her mother, Virginia Mack, of Lancaster, raised them.

Neighbors told the Lowell Sun that the brothers lived in a "bachelor pad" with two unrelated male friends, who were not harmed. Neighbors described the community as family-friendly and quiet, but they feared the gunmen would return, looking for the brothers' roommates.

Neighbors also said the brothers were well-liked; Hector Delgado took the neighborhood kids to McDonald's when his son was visiting him on weekends, and Tony Delgado bought ice cream for the children, according to the article.

Tony was a bar manager, and Hector was a security guard and janitor, Tanya Mack said.

There is no indication that the brothers were involved in any illegal activity, according to the Lowell Sun.

"I'm just so sad over the whole thing," Tanya Mack said. "I don't know why anybody would do such a thing."

The Delgado brothers moved to Lowell about 10 years ago for a change of pace and to be near other family members, Tanya Mack said.

"They would always be very nice to everyone in the neighborhood [in Lancaster city]," she said. "Especially the elderly, and cutting people's grass and taking care of the snow."

The brothers were active in the Lancaster Boys' and Girls' Club growing up, she said.

She said Tony Delgado is survived by a son, Trey, 13, of Lancaster. Hector is survived by a son, Hector, 3, of Lowell.

The brothers are also survived by their mother, Iris Delia Martinez, of Lancaster; two brothers, Charles Delgado, of Lancaster, and Delfin Delgado, of North Carolina; and two sisters, Bethzida "Tita" Delgado and Daisy Delgado, both of Lowell.

Thanks, Daisy. It sounded like this board with different names.

Sad for families. Sad for the children left with no Father . Sad for those who overlook illegal activities and think they are normal. Sad! Sad! Sad!

FTA: Local residents said the brothers were well-liked in the small, close-knit neighborhood and there was no indication of any illegal activity, such as drug dealing, at their apartment. Hector Delgado used to take the neighborhood kids to McDonald's when his 4-year-old son was visiting him on weekends, they said, and his brother Luis, who friends called "Tony," would buy ice cream for the children.

What illegal activities? Taking neighborhood children to McDonald's?

Or are you talking about the prowling men with guns?
Fizz
unusual!?
THREE double-murders of brothers has happened in Lowell, MA this past decade.

Double Murder - Police Blog

"I point out in my story on this today that it seems a bit odd that there have been three double-murders in Lowell this decade, and all three involved brothers being killed.

The Donovan brothers murder in 2002, the Lincoln Street killing of Moises Cotto and John Tejada in 2004, and now the murder of the Delgado brothers, Luis and Hector.

Luis, who most folks called Tony, was well-known downtown, and a face most folks who spend time there have probably seen.

Nick Petrakos, who owns the Shamrock, was crushed. He and Tony went way back because Tony used to work as a concierge at the the Doubletree, and would bring hotel guests over to the Shamrock for a bite to eat or a few drinks.

They were very close friends."

Tony and Hector both had kids, Tony's son is 11 or 12, Hector's son is about 2. Both were doting fathers.

It appears that you are responding to the present article. I was responding to the information in the news article posted by Daisy . They do not sound as innocent, locally , as they do from the viewpoint of Lancaster. I know nothing of the men in question.

It is not easy for relatives who mourn, regardless of the viewpoint of society about their loved ones. We have gone through that topic time and time again.

This is really sad. I went to school with Hector & lived next door to the Mack's for a time. They were all good people. Hector had a knack for cracking me up lol. My thoughts & prayers go out to the families.
