Passenger service was restored around 3 a.m. Saturday after a Friday afternoon freight train derailment disrupted Amtrak's busy Keystone Service rail line between Lancaster and Harrisburg.
The derailment, involving three Norfolk Southern freight cars, happened around 1 p.m. just west of the Lancaster Amtrak station on McGovern Avenue.
Two of the derailed cars were empty, and the third was carrying some form of alcohol, Norfolk Southern spokesman Rudy Husband said. No injuries were reported.
An Amtrak spokeman said that passengers could experience "some residual delays, nothing significant" Saturday but added that service would be normal for Monday.
"Regularly scheduled service is now being provided," Amtrak's Web site posted Saturday.
