Four county volleyball teams win in preliminaries

With the completion of Saturday's preliminaries in Class AAA, the field is set for the District Three girls volleyball championships.

In Saturday's preliminaries Warwick defeated Muhlenberg, Manheim Central defeated Carlisle, Manheim Township defeated Central Dauphin and Conestoga Valley defeated Red Land, all by three-game sweeps. meanwhile, Ephrata fell to Governor Mifflin in four games, 3-1.

The Class AA tournament begins Monday, Nov. 2 with pool play at Lower Dauphin, Hempfield, Wilson and Dallastown, starting at 4:30 p.m..

Lancaster Mennonite will be part of Pool B, at Hempfield, with Schuylkill Valley, Delone Catholic and James Buchanan.

Lampeter-Strasburg is in Pool C at Wilson with Brandywine Heights, Trinity and West York.

The tournament continues Tuesday, Nov. 3 with pool play in Class AAA, at Hempfield, Wilson, Gettysburg and Dallastown, also at 4:30 p.m.

Hempfield hosts Red Lion, Gettysburg and Warwick in Pool A. Manheim Central and Manheim Township play in Pool B at Wilson, along with Exeter and Dallastown. Garden Spot joins Cumberland Valley, Governor Mifflin and Mechanicsburg in Pool C at Gettysburg while Conestoga Valley is in Pool D with Spring Grove, Daniel Boone and Chambersburg.

There will also be three preliminary-round matches in Class A on Tuesday, all at Central York. Included in that is Dayspring Christian playing Steel-High at 7:30 p.m.

The AA quarterfinals will be Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Northern York and Lower Dauphin. The AAA quarterfinals will be Thursday at Hempfield and Northern York. Starting times for AAA and AA will be 6 and 7:30 p.m. The Class A quarters will be Thursday at Central York, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The semifinals and finals are set for 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Class AAA will be at Dallastown. Class AA is at Central York. Class A is at Wilson.
