When Twin Brook Winery asked Roger Eberlin to find another band for this Saturday's Bluegrass and BBQ bash, the Summit Hill Bluegrass Band singer-bassist didn't have to look far.

He simply called on a neighbor of his from nearby Landenberg: Danny Paisley, son of bluegrass legend Bob Paisley and lead singer for Danny Paisley and the Southern Grass.

"He said, 'You should have this guy because he's wonderful,' " says Melissa Jobe, who handles the booking for Twin Brook. "He said he's quite the performer."

And Eberlin — who's played at Twin Brook with both Summit Hill and the Lanchester Bluegrass Band — is far from the only one raving about Paisley. The band recently received the Song of the Year award from the International Bluegrass Music Association for "Don't Throw Mama's Flowers Away," from its recently released CD "The Room Over Mine."

Paisley and the Southern Grass will be sharing the stage with Summit Hill Saturday at Twin Brook.

Also on hand will be Victory Brewing Company, selling barbecue and handing out free beer samples. Twin Brook will be offering free wine tasting as well.

The concert will be held outside, weather permitting. Otherwise, it will move to the greenhouse. Inside seating is limited, so advanced ticket purchases are recommended.

Paisley and the Southern Grass will perform two or three sets, Eberlin said, with Summit Hill doing three or four, depending on how things work out.

For as long as they've known each other, this is the first time they've shared the bill.

"It's exciting to us, and we want to complement them and have them complement us," Eberlin said.

While both are bluegrass bands, he said, they have different playing styles.

"Theirs is heavy, Southern bluegrass," Eberlin said. "Ours is more modern, a little softer."

While Paisley's band tours the U.S. and Europe on a regular basis, Summit Hill is "more of a local band," Eberlin said. But there's no way he's nervous about sharing the bill with them, especially at a winery show.

"I'll just tell people if they don't like us, they can go have another glass of wine," Eberlin said.
