(75)Leagues (averages): AM Industrial League (153), Thursday Seniors (135).
My greatest moments in the sport: Are when I score a 200 game or hit a 500 series, which, unfortunately, isn't too often.
Achievements: Finishing as part of the first-place team in the league (in 1996 and 2009). I received most improved bowler award several years ago.
Favorite bowling center: Leisure Lanes.
Type of bowling ball I use: A 14-pound Tornado.
The person who taught me most is: My father, Howard Miller.
My interest in the sport began: When I watched my father bowl when I was a child. My father bowled with a team sponsored by Oblender's store in Lancaster, and they did tournament bowling. I remember going to Indiana for nationals; it was a lot of fun. My father won trophies and his enjoyment in the sport rubbed off on me.
I have bowled for 29 years, beginning with Watt & Shand's team as a substitute. I ended up bowling with that team for 27 years in what is now the Wednesday Night Mixed League.
Suggestions for others: Don't take the game too seriously, and keep a good attitude — and smile.
My long-term bowling goal is: To be able to bowl when I'm 96 like my dad.
The funniest thing in the sport: Several years ago while I was bowling the Wednesday Night Mixed League, our team captain, Susie Miller, had us wear aluminum hats while we were bowling. We laughed so hard that night. Oddly enough, we won all our games and had some pretty impressive scores. I still smile when I think of how silly we looked.
This brings me luck: Kissing my husband before I leave to bowl.
People would be surprised to learn that: I love to ride roller coasters. The more twists and turns, the better.
When I am not bowling you will find me: Going to Hershey to see the Bears play hockey. That is, if I'm not working as an usher at the game.
College scene: Samantha Santoro, a 2008 Cocalico graduate, continues her success at Arkansas State University.
Last week, Santoro, a sophomore, was named to the Greater Ozark Invitational all-tournament team after averaging 204 to help her team finish second.
As a freshman, Santoro was named as a second-team All-American.
Arkansas State, ranked seventh in the nation, competes in the Nebraska Fall Classic this week.
Santoro was honored at last summer's junior bowling awards banquet for her 2007-08 national record of a 859 series and a 229 average.
Alley notes: Perfect games were rolled by Rich Ferrier at Garden Spot; Troy Knier at Cain's; and Jeff Todd, Craig Getz and Jeremy Smith at Dutch.
