Northern Lebanon's youth movement spoiled Senior Night Friday in Kinzers.

A trio of sophomore Vikings ruined Pequea Valley's final game of the season, running and throwing the ball at will in a 47-19 rout.

Running backs Ryan Daub (six carries, 115 yards) and Colton Ryan (nine carries, 87 yards, 2 TDs) handled the ground load, while quarterback Tanner Dresch missed only one pass on nine tries that amounted to 130 yards and three touchdowns.

"The future is very bright," Vikes coach Jack Beidler said after the game.

No kidding.

On a frigid night, Beidler's youthful backs stayed warm by executing a bevy of counters, sweeps, delays and dives, keeping the Braves (1-6 L-L, 2-8 overall) guessing all night who had the ball and which way it was going.

They scored 28 points in the game's first 20 minutes. Braves' coach Curtis Waltman said his team came out "flat," perhaps overconfident from a win last week over Columbia — the program's first Section Three win since 2003.

"They just relaxed a bit," Waltman said, walking off the field. "Winning is a wonderful thing, but we have to learn how to handle it."

Northern Lebanon (4-3 L-L, 6-4) scored touchdowns on consecutive offensive plays in the first quarter —Ryan's 2-yard plunge and Dresch's 60-yard catch-and-run to Cameron Orwig.

Dresch then ran one in himself, before throwing another for a 28-0 lead.

PV's Tyler Schmitt's first of three touchdown catches cut the lead to 21. But, the Vikes answered on their next play — a 56 yard sprint by Ryan.

"We opened up our running game tonight," Beidler said. "They gave us some things by trying to pack the box."

The Vikings still have an outside chance of making the postseason, Beidler said. Four teams ahead of them in the District Three playoff pool needed to lose Friday for the Vikes to make the cut.
