McCaskey trips Reading, snaps 20-game losing skid

McCaskey snapped a 20-game winless streak and knocked Reading out of the race for a District Three Class AAAA playoff berth with a 14-10 win over the Red Knights Friday night at Shirk Stadium in Reading.

DeMarcus Sumpter (14-56 rushing) scored on touchdown runs of three and one yards to lead the Red Tornado in their L-L League Section One victory.

Adrian Westbrook ran for 106 yards on 17 carries in the win and helped lead McCaskey (1-6 L-L, 1-9 overall) to its first victory since Week 9 of the 2007 season.

Westbrook completed 3-of-9 passes for 50 yards and Markeith Williams added 40 yards on seven rushing attempts.

Reading running back Jason Stewart ran for 129 yards on 25 carries with a touchdown and also caught three passes for 17 yards.

Freddie Pena completed 10-of-22 passes for the Red Knights (3-4, 4-6) and was intercepted twice in Reading's final L-L League game.
