They will hold a community meeting at 1:45 p.m. today, Nov. 8, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 837 Lincoln Ave., West Chester, to give an update on the search for Sharpless. Posters and business cards with Sharpless' photo will be provided for distribution.

Sharpless, 29, of West Brandywine Township, Chester County, was last seen driving a black, 2002 four-door Pontiac Grand Prix with Pennsylvania tag DND7772 at about 5 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 23.

She and friend Crystal Johns, of West Fallowfield Township, Chester County, had just left a house party on the 1300 block of Bobarn Drive in Gladwyne, according to Lower Merion police. Johns got out of the car after the women got into an argument, police said.

Lower Merion police are leading the investigation with assistance from West Brandywine police.

Sharpless' family has hired private investigator Eileen Law, of Kennett Square, to search for their daughter.

There have been no breaks in the case, Law said. However, she will give a presentation about her investigation at today's meeting.

Law said she feels she must follow up on every lead, no matter how thin.

One woman claimed to have had a vision about Sharpless' whereabouts. Law said the woman mentioned details only Toni's mother would know.

The woman's claims prompted a search of Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, but to no avail.

"I still believe there is someone who knows something," Law said. "From day one, my gut said that she's alive."

Sharpless lived with her 12-year-old daughter and her parents, Peter and Donna Knebel.

The family describes Sharpless as 5 feet 5 inches tall, 140 pounds, with short auburn hair and blue-gray eyes.

They are offering a reward for any information leading to their daughter's discovery, though they have not disclosed the amount.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lower Merion police at 610-649-1000, or Eileen Law at 800-796-9042.

A fund has been set up to help pay for search-related expenses. Donations may be made to the Toni Sharpless Search Fund and sent to DNB First, 4 Brandywine Ave., Downingtown, Pa., 19335.

My thoughts and prayers also go out to this family.

If this were my child I'd be beside myself with worry, as I'm sure her family is at this point. I do hope there is closure soon for them. A positive outcome is in my prayers for child and parents.

PRIVATE DETECTIVE UPDATES ON MISSING MOM

"Law was hired by the family on Sept. 25 and said she is donating her time. She said she believes Sharpless is alive.

The investigator has been following up on leads provided to the Web site www.MissingToniSharpless.com."

There have been two hits on her license plate tag, according to the National Crime Information Center, an FBI database. One of the hits was from Camden, N.J.

A "hit" could be a parking ticket or an abandoned vehicle or someone running a red light, she explained

Law said she has received reports that Sharpless was seen in Lancaster City, where she once lived. The reports say Sharpless was wearing a dark top and dark jeans and looked dazed.

Law said it is possible that if Sharpless is in a manic state and drinking alcohol, she may not realize who she is.

The missing woman has been featured on John Walsh's "America's Most Wanted" and on CNN's "Nancy Grace" television programs. Her picture is also being shown at gas stations with television marketing systems at the pumps.

In September, Tim Miller and his Texas EquuSearch organization, which specializes in searching for missing people, helped authorities search the Schuylkill River at Flat Rock Park in Lower Merion. Township police, with the aid of a Philadelphia Marine Unit, searched the river for two days at the park, which is about a half-mile from the house where she was last seen. Only abandoned cars were found."
