The Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday issued a news release announcing it had cited 14 municipalities in Pennsylvania and Maryland for stormwater violations.

On that list were five Lancaster County municipalities — Akron and Terre Hill boroughs and East Earl, East Donegal and Pequea townships.

But officials in four of the five municipalities said they were cited for problems with their reports to the state Department of Environmental Protection — not for polluting any waterways.

"It definitely had nothing to do with contaminating a stream," said Dan Guers, manager of Akron Borough. "There were some reports they wanted that we didn't send in, but we've since sent them in."

Similar reports were given by officials in Terre Hill, East Earl and East Donegal. Officials with Pequea Township could not immediately be reached Thursday.

All of the municipal officials contacted said they have sent to the DEP the paperwork it requested.

Another example of a headline that has nothing to do with the facts in the article. Wonder how that could have happened?

Cited for stormwater violations equals failure to submit paperwork?

This area has been targeted for enforcement re: the bay. Paperwork has to do with unmitigated stormwater entry into the waterways, perhaps? Tip of the story...
