Police on Monday charged a Pequea woman with taking a $1,371 wedding ring she found on the floor at Walmart, police said.

Stephanie M. Evanko, 25, of House Rock Road, picked up the men's ring on Nov. 9 and left the 2030 Fruitville Pike store, Manheim Township police said.

The ring had fallen off the finger of Michael McKoin of Lancaster while he was at a cash register, police said.

He realized the ring was gone right after he left the store, but when he returned to ask about it, the ring was gone.

A clerk told McKoin she saw a woman pick the ring up and leave the store, police said. Surveillance video showed a woman reaching to the floor as if to pick up something, and then leaving the store.

Later that day, McKoin located his ring at a pawn shop in Lancaster, where it had been purchased for $52, police said.

Investigators determined that Evanko was the woman who found the ring at Walmart, police said. They charged her before District Judge David Miller with theft of property lost or mislaid.

I will not understand why this women is being charged with a crimional offense. She did not take the ring from the mans posession, nor did she steel if off of his persons. I think this is an issue of moral character and the fact that she did not do the right thing. If i found 20 dollars on the street and picked it up would i be charged with theft. She did pick it up and pawn it, both immoral things but none of which is illeagle. I think the charges against this women should be dropped and left alone. She did nothing to break the law. However her moral judgement is questionable.

LOL and your spelling suxs!
