A Georgia man stole $850 and six laptop computers from a Manheim Township business, police said.

John M. Yasechko, 42, of Warner Robins, Ga., was charged with felony theft on Wednesday, Manheim Township police said.

Cyber Wire Technologies, 1116 Manheim Pike, on Sept. 14 sent Yasechko six laptop computers for repair after Yasechko advertised a computer repair business on eBay, police said.

Yasechko later told Cyber Wire that the repairs were completed, and $850 was sent to him to cover the repairs and shipping, police said.

The computers were never returned, and Yasechko cannot be reached, police said. Total loss is $3,850.

SUCKERS!

How about: www. I'll Do It Myself .com

Sal, that's not nice. I'm sure the customers had no idea what happens to their laptop they turn over to a business. Regardless of who stole what, the original business should be held accountable once the customer gave them their laptop.

There is a reason why most companies have policies in place not to affiliate any business with Ebay for any sales or purchasing....can't imagine why.

Ebay...first mistake. Not local...second mistake. Payment before goods sent back...third mistake. No background check...fourth mistake.

Scams like this exists and thrive, mostly because of the offer to do something at a cheap price.

Now I want to know what this local company does and what info was on the computers that are now missing and if that is going to be an issue.

My original comment stands!

SUCKERS! And I can say that because my background is in computers. I would NEVER, and I mean NEVER, take my computer to one of these stores. Get your local geek to help you. Hell, at least you know who has your computer.

EVERY manufacturer has an authorized place to send your computer for repairs. Quite often, the repairs are free because of upgraded equipment that you don't have in your device.

Always check with the manufacturer first.
