Ten minutes after police released a New Holland woman they had just charged with retail theft on Wednesday, she walked back into the same store and tried to steal again, Ephrata police said.

Cynthia Irene Locke, 25, and her boyfriend, Jeremiah Shane Barr, 32, both of the 100 block of West Main Street, New Holland, were charged with retail theft at the Walmart store in Ephrata  at 11:20 a.m., police said.

The couple had torn tags off clothing and jewelry, concealed them in a stolen purse and tried to leave the 890 E. Main St. store without paying for the $107.40 worth of items, police said.

Then, at about 1:30 p.m., the same officer was walking back into the Walmart store after releasing Locke when store employees alerted him that she had struck again, police said.

The officer charged Locke with another count of retail theft for allegedly taking $5 worth of eye make-up, police said. Then the officer released her a second time.

ive never heard of someone so dumb.

Do you mean a person who works at WalMart or the woman charged with retail theft?

I'm still trying to figure out why WalMart has about 20 cashier lanes with only one lane open at any given time? I wonder if Millersville University could do a study on this to find out why. Happy holidays!

All she she needs is a good paddling. That's the punishment shoplifters get in Japan in a mall. They are paddled in public outside the store. The shop lifting problem there is almost never.
