A woman jumped from the Route 30 bridge into the Susquehanna River at mid-day — and survived. The woman jumped at about 1:45 p.m., after parking her car on the westbound side of the bridge. The woman was described as having light-colored hair and wearing a red coat and jeans. After she jumped, she was seen swimming in the river. By the time rescue crews scooped her up, she was standing in waist-deep water between the Route 30 and Route 462 bridges. A medic unit transported her to a Lancaster County hospital. The woman is among several people who have survived jumping off one of the two Susquehanna River bridges, which parallel each other. A 27-year-old man survived a jump off the Route 462 bridge in June 2008. At the time, police said the only other survivor they were aware of was a woman who was badly injured after jumping off the same bridge more than 10 years ago.

The woman obviously changed her mind after the fall. It took some time before the boat was even in the water. If she still wanted to die after jumping she could of done many things such as hit her head on a rock, drown herself or hypothermia (not sure how long that takes). It said in the paper she was being kept overnight for observation is she seriously not going to be kept there in psychiatric? If they dont keep her that is the dumbest move and it wont be long till she tries again if she is not kept. She should be arrested. She used many people, departments and time and they are gonna let her go? Basically saying your depressed so its ok that you did what you did. There was a fire that personnel was pulled from because of what she did

It wasn't her fault. She didn't ask for those people to interfere.

There's no law against attempting suicide in Pennsylvania.

there seriously is no law against that? I mean obviously if you do commit suicide they cant do anything but if she survives there is other charges that could be brought against her and I dont understand why they dont. I did talk to a person who helped at the scene. I asked him about an hour after and asked if she had lived and I asked if anything like criminal charges would be brought against her (just generally asking in a situation) he said that in a situation like this she would be arrested. I just dont understand it.

No sense in charging her with anything. She could pleads insanity. What jury would deny that she was operating under a compulsion?

And it would make it even harder for her to decide that she wants to live after all.
