Ephrata
By CINDY STAUFFER, Staff Writer

Police have identified a jogger who collapsed in Ephrata Saturday.

The woman collapsed at Ephrata Avenue and Second Street, not far from Ephrata Community Hospital.

A passer-by found her lying on the sidewalk and did cardiopulmonary resuscitation until a rescue crew arrived.

The unconscious woman, who was not carrying any identification, was taken to Lancaster General Hospital.

She remained unidentified until Tuesday, when she regained consciousness and was able to tell hospital personnel the name of a local relative.

Police cited medical privacy rules in not releasing the jogger's name.

You gotta love it!

Police want help from "anyone" with information as to this ladies identity!
Ok.....Now "anyone" want help from police as to how this lady is doing and where she is from!

Unbelievable...........No comment on who she is or more importantly how she is (what was the point of this story)!!

That's because she has a right to privacy. You don't need to know who she is or how she is doing. The hospital needed as much information as possible in order to care for her appropriately.

Get the difference between need to know v being a Nosey Parker?

It's been around a long time with numerous explanations for it's origin. In other words, nobody knows for sure.
Just how "Nosy Parker" (also spelled "Nosey") came to mean a snoop or busybody is a bit of a mystery. Since the "Parker" is almost always capitalized, most popular theories interpret it as a proper name and go looking for an especially inquisitive Parker in history. The leading candidate for the original "Nosey Parker" is Matthew Parker, Archbishop of Canterbury from 1559-1575, who was evidently famous for his interest in other people's business. The problem with the Archbishop theory, however, is that "Nosey Parker" only cropped up in written English in 1907, several centuries after Matthew Parker had stopped snooping around. A more likely explanation, outlined by Hugh Rawson in his marvelous book "Wicked Words" (Crown Publishers, 1989), is that the original "Nosey Parkers" were voyeurs who skulked about London's Hyde Park spying on amorous couples. Bolstering this theory is the fact that park keepers in England used to be known as "parkers," and it strikes me that, in that pre-automotive age, jokes involving "nosey parkers" were probably as common as our modern "cop on Lovers' Lane" variety was in the 1950's.

Hey, you got the last name wrong.

You get involved in a story like this, and then suddenly it's like "Never mind". A little resolution to it would be good, in my opinion.

If she collapsed near Ephrata Hospital, why did they take her all the way to lancaster General?

Because the newspaper is wrong.

She was taken to Ephrata Comm. Hospital FIRST to be stabilized and was THEN transferred to LGH.
