A Manheim woman faces summary traffic charges related to a two-vehicle wreck that killed a Mount Joy woman, police said on Tuesday.

Kathryn Gleeson, 20, of Manheim, was charged with not stopping at a stop sign and operating an uninspected vehicle, Mount Joy Borough police Chief John O'Connell said.

Jody L. Weber, 51, of 605 Mitchell Ave., Mount Joy, died Aug. 14 at Lancaster General Hospital from injuries sustained in the crash, police reported.

On Aug. 1, Weber was riding on a motorcycle driven by her husband, Charles, in Mount Joy Borough, O'Connell said. At 2 p.m. at South Angle Street and Donegal Springs Road, Gleeson failed to stop at a stop sign and struck their motorcycle broadside.

Charles Weber was taken to LGH and was in serious condition after the wreck, Weber said. After six days in the hospital, he went home.

On Tuesday, Weber said he is still recovering physically from the wreck.

"It was a terrible day," he said, declining to comment further about the wreck or charges against Gleeson.

Gleeson was not seriously hurt in the wreck, according to police.

The charges against her were decided upon after consultation with the district attorney, O'Connell said.

Wow what a strange situation and article. The chick ONLY got 2 summary citations, and no vehicular manslaughter charge, or negligence, or anything... Im not sure how all that works, but seems she got off pretty nice! And the guy..."it was a terrible day" wtf?? DUDE your wife died!! No disrespect to anyone, but this seriously is a strange article and outcome...as if nothing ever happened...

I won't comment on the charges, because Charlie is a friend of mine that I talked to yesterday. The reason for his simple and vague response is because he didn't see the need for blasting the girl in a public forum like a newspaper, when is would do absolutely no good for anyone. Especially at the time LNP called when he didn't know everything the driver would be charged with. I agree with Charlie's response, it would have done absolutely no good for anyone for him to respond in a more negative fashion.

We miss you Jody.

You think he should have publicly lambasted this woman and gone on at length to a reporter about the suffering he's been through?

When he says "It was a terrible day," what he's really saying is "I don't want to talk about it." It takes a lot of nerve to imply that his desire to keep his emotions private isn't good enough.
